Abstract Bin Kimura, the most internationally renowned Japanese psychopathologist, developed a unique life‐theoretical position in his later years. The concept of “ aida ” or “betweenness,” which was social dimension earlier thought, came to be called “horizontal betweenness,” and “vertical betweenness” vital emphasized. In relation time theory, “intra festum,” signifies tendency immerse oneself present, has come highlighted as direct contact with life. He used many coupled concepts, such mizukara / onozukara “reality/actuality,” contrast scientific‐epistemological one. also heavily influenced by ideas Viktor von Weizsäcker, superimposed over Weizsäcker's “ground relationship” interpreting it expressing dependence individual life ( bios ) on general zoé ). However, strongest influences theory were Kitaro Nishida, leading philosopher Kyoto School, whom he had been familiar since youth. last years, under Nishida's influence, equate generalized death. Kimura's philosophy might provide foundation psychotherapy deepening subjective empathetic understanding psychiatric patients.
